Saints essay

Saints Essay

St. Perpetua and St.Felicity to this day still inspire many. Their heroic actions make us believe that there is still hope for us to follow our dreams. They lived in Roman the province of Africa. I wanted to learn about them more because I found there story very interesting and cruel on how they were punished for being saints. I was really fascinated to find out about how life for saints then was not equal to others.

St. Perpetua lived in a palace, a very privileged person, She was married and had a son. St.Felicity on the other hand was not as privileged. But her life got a lot better when she met St. Perpetua she was her servant and friend. Also it was better because shortly after she met St. Perpetua she became pregnant. St. Perpetua's father warned her about the consequences of being a saint. But nothing could stop her not even her family. She did not care the consequences. St. Perpetua was very curious about god and always wanted to become a saint. St.Felicity also shared the same curiosity as St. Perpetua and also decided to become a saint.

I found both St. Perpetua and St.Felicity inspirational because they were both warned of the consequences of becoming a saint especially St. Perpetua. They both new that there was a possibility of conflict from multiple people. They new in their hearts that it was the correct decision for them and no matter what the outcome is they will be happy with their decision to become saints. When you have a dream or want to do something you should never give up on your dreams. We often overlook the things that other people don't agree with or it is not suggested. But St. Perpetua and St.Felicity did the opposite they chose to become saint to follow in the footsteps of God and become saints.

Usually when someone is about to be executed you would expect them to forget about everything and just think about themselves and their family well for St. Perpetua and St.Felicity that was not the case with St. Perpetua and St.Felicity . When they became saints there was a lot of conflict from a lot of people in their town. The final decision for the people that chose to be saints was death by an animal. When the lions were eating St. Perpetua and St.Felicity alive they did not forget about the lord and their faith for him. Therefor they did not just sit their in there last seconds forgetting about what they are fighting for and what they did and always will believe in.They spend their last seconds raising there hands up to the lord and praying. Showing their faith to god.

I really enjoyed learning about St. Perpetua and St.Felicity and their experiences as saints. I personally think that the punishment for being a saint is cruel and I think that you would agree. A lot of the people did not respect the people that believe in God. I can tell you that now they would never treat someone different according to their beliefs. Even though you do not agree or believe in the same thing as someone you should never look at them any other than you would look at yourself. We often think that when something is different from usual that it is not right or just. I believe that this was the misconception with saints. Now we look at people the same and we have come to a place as people to accept everyone. But there's always something that happens to get us to where we are now.Their will always be conflict. But the conflict is the part that brings us further to our final decision and in this case the decision is to not have a different respect for saints.
